Core Show and The Bike Place - Lovely Lightweight

I am sure many people missed the Lightweight room. It was hidden away upstairs but it was worth finding. 

Not only did we get to see charming Chris Hewings, but there was some stunning Matte Black-ness. 

We have been selling Lightweight Wheels for some time now and each pair still feels special. However rather than feeling fragile, they are solid. As I mentioned in a previous post, there is a damage cover scheme available. I have also been told that rim damage to tub rims can even be repaired in most cases. 

They have also have a rather beautiful frame set in production. It's just stunning and as you can imagine, it's not exactly heavy. 

Accessories are also available. You. Can also order road bars, bottle cages, skewers etc. The bars are a massive 168g in weight, crazy! Much like the 18g bottle cages. It's all amazing. 

And yes, here's the hangers :-)

Chariot Trial In Store NOW.

We have been given a great opportunity to give a short trial of the well established Chariot child carriers.

These carriers (not trailers) will be a great addition to many bike shops up and down the country (and maybe ours... stay tuned..)

In store we have a Cougar model with some accessories fitted. This carrier is a stroller first but it has the capability to take other forms; jogger, bike trailer and even can be fitted with ski's for the more adventurous of us.

This is a great chance to pop down and see our model before it has to be returned. We have the stroller kit and the jogger kit available for you to view and try. We also have the catalogues and prices for the various models in store.

Lee Cooper Custom Frames

We have been getting frame built by Lee Cooper for many years and the quality is amazing.

We have just had one frame build and one restored by him so I just wanted to post up some photos to show what great work he does.

The orange one is a custom build and the grey one is a restoration - both stunning.

So you know that when you get a custom frame from us, the geometry will be correct and the frame will look stunning!

Drive to Work Day for Cyclists.

This sounds like a great idea to show people just how cycling can effect the day-to-day traffic in our cities - and it seems to have worked.

Although it seems to be poking fun at the cyclist its indeed a campaign to illustrate just how everyone using their cars can cause chaos in the towns and cities.

Stories about the relationship between cyclists and motorists have been making the headlines for weeks, but with news of the aftermath from the TV program 'War on Britains Roads' that aired on The BBC, we can see that there are rights and wrongs on both sides. But that is a behavior issue. This campaign puts that to one side and makes it very clear that the number of cyclists out there really are helping the roads to flow that little bit easier.

New Website!

I am sure some of you have already seen our new design website..

This is an exciting move for us as the number of products that appear on our site is now in the 1000's rather than the 100's. As with any new project there are teething problems along the way but we are happy to announce that the site is up and running with a huge range of products for sale. 

A lot of the products don't have images as yet, but give us time and you will find them filtering through. 

Those of you that read our blog on a regular basis will be aware that we have not done any posts for a while now, the website launch was the main focus but we hope that we can continue to 'banter' as normal from now on. 

Our new website has some pretty cool features. My personal favorite is that we can have a huge range of products on there quickly and clearly. For example, we launched this new look site with over 6000 individual products from day 1. This will be increasing as time goes on. We can also display the huge range of bikes that we have in stock as well as all the accessories and clothing we have in store. 

There are now share buttons on each product so an item can be sent to Facebook or Twitter to show your friends for example. 

We have easy access to our blog and our Flickr Gallery on the site also.

And for those wanting a bargain, we have a 'Clearance' tab for all those end-of-line items and any offers we may have from time to time.

Bobbin Bikes

We have received nearly all of our Bobbin bike order now. 

These bikes have all the style and look of the vintage bikes but they are built to modern standards and with freely available parts. This means that the bikes that we are struggling to repair due to not being up to standard can be replaced with these stunning and affordable bikes. 

But maybe the best addition to the range are the 'shopper' style bikes!

British bike manufacture is on the up!

There is defiantly a value attached to British built items and cycles are no exception. A recent BikeBiz article has highlighted the recent boom in British bicycle numbers.

Two examples that effect us at JAC the most are Brompton and Pashley bikes. We are getting deliveries from them pretty much every couple of weeks and the bikes are just beautiful.

Plus the other thing to remember is that the Brompton bikes are made to order. So if you are planning on ordering one, get in sooner rather than later...

Short but Sweet!

So after some sweet talking, the bosses here at JAC lent another beauty of a bike! I've already got the John Atkins Session but this a little smaller and a very fun winter/play/training/mini dh/trail/do anything and everything bike!

The frames a fairly rare Yeti 4x full sus that as anyone who's owned one will tell you makes an awesome short travel go any where bike as well as a more than capable racer as I proved in 2009 when I raced the British 4x on my previous one.

The build on this incarnation is a bit more robust than my last with some 100-140mm adjustable Rock Shox Revelations up front to suit any situation, Hope Hoops built onto DT XR500 rims for a light yet resilient wheel set, full SRAM group set for perfect shifting and as always Conti Rubber keeping me glued to the floor.

I've added a few little flourishes to the build like a PIMP Gold Hope chainring and a set of Renthall Fatbars both of which we've just started stocking in the store! Hint hint ;-)

She got her first outing at the DTV local DH race in the forest of dean a few weekends ago, a few pedally sections and plenty jumps meant this was the perfect weapon for the job over my full on Trek Session DH bike. I can safely say we bonded straight away and many bar turns and tweaks were done over the jumps with the flat pedal at the top being covered at warp speed!

I'm looking forward to many months of fun on this little beast!

This is a strange machine but i like it, its right up my street.

featuring a 2 x Alifine 8 set up its out the box drive has inspired me! (stay tuned for more weird-ness)
