Brilliant Genesis Day-One Alfine Di2

This is a lovely bike.

This would make a super premium pub bike! Or a super sturdy commute bike for the more sensible. Rack mounts, guard clearance etc.

We are loving the new Di2 version of the 11 Alfine hub from Shimano. The best thing I reckon is the display unit. I can see some really cool applications for this in the near future, built into stems etc.

It has a reassuring, quick and quality change and it's all set up from the PC. (Remember we can offer software and firmware upgrade for all Di2 platforms in store).

Genesis are being quite adventurous with their specs this year and we have heard of some more exciting things to come.

I am sure the owner with enjoy many electronically shifted moments on this steed.

Core Show and The Bike Place - Adventure Bikes and Accessories

Planning on riding off into the sunset? Or planning on doing a 'Kevin' and heading out to Scotland for a few weeks? There is a certain American brand that is becoming the default option for adventure cycling.

Surly and Salsa are the genesis of all the snow / fat bike trends but unlike some, they remain functional. Many fat bikes are being released to fit with the trends.

But at the top of the game is this full carbon Salsa. If you have over £4k and you need to ride over snow or sand in the middle of nowhere then I think I have found your bike.

The Salsa Fargo set up with the bags was right up my street. Steel frame, 29" wheels, drop bars plenty of bags and it's YELLOW!

The Bike Place Show also had some Fat bikes to offer

Extreme brand 45NRTH are now available in the UK via a major distributor so you can now get such awesome-ness as these SPD boots for the worst of weathers.

It's got furry insides..

Out On The Bikes!

As many of our regulars will know, we spend all our time fixing, selling, upgrading and talking about bikes but we rarely get out on them! A few days ago we tackled the impossible, lived the dream and went out for a bike ride.

I must admit that at this stage our main focus and target is the pub. We aren't out to break records or set the road a blaze with our immense speed but to be in a position to require the refreshment that pubs offer.

This event did gather a range of bikes types, we had: alloy, carbon, steel and titanium.

It did give us an opportunity to try out our new Trek Domane's, alloy and carbon. Lets just say, if you don't ride bikes or you have ridden a stiff bike, it's a world apart. These bikes still move when you stomp on the pedals but they have the compliance that makes them super comfortable when in the saddle. The alloy bike has at least 5% more compliance than its rivals and the carbon has a massive 35% more than its rivals. Beyond reciting the info off the trek site lets just get it strait, I'm impressed!

As Trek are making some changes to the way they structure the model years, it's worth dropping in and having a chat about what's new. I say this because everyone needs a Domane!

Lee Cooper Custom Frames

We have been getting frame built by Lee Cooper for many years and the quality is amazing.

We have just had one frame build and one restored by him so I just wanted to post up some photos to show what great work he does.

The orange one is a custom build and the grey one is a restoration - both stunning.

So you know that when you get a custom frame from us, the geometry will be correct and the frame will look stunning!

For more information on custom builds pop in or give us a call on 01926 430211

No.1 Window Display

We have been thinking about the new window display heading towards the Jubilee weekend for some time now. But we never imagined it could look this good.

Many thanks to Shannon Cree from Headmasters (also on Clemens Street). This display now looks awesome!

As you well know we have 2 windows and the other one is in progress but why not come down and have a look at the vintage themed window display.

Items in the window included items from Pashley, Brompton, Raleigh and Brooks.

Custom Colnago Master X-Lite.

This is beautiful.

Custom Spec-ed and built here in store!

This bike has all sorts of lovely polished goodies hanging off it, where do we start??

Well lets start with the frame and fork. As to be expected with the Master, formed tubing and chrome lugs with hand pained gold detailing and the same can be said for the fork. Wheels where hand built in store. Chris King hubs on DT spokes and Halo polished rim. Classic looks with modern strength and performance. Stem, bars and seatpost from Ritchey's Classic Range. Again giving a quality, modern aspect to the bike. Silver Campagnolo parts finish the build with the retro feel.

This bike can stand next to retro bikes and fit in a treat. All new and nothing that will be difficult to replace or outdated.

There are soooooo many little details on this bike I am sure there will be some people looking at these pictures for a while.. :-)
