Hope and Mondraker - match made in heaven.

'This is going to be risky'

These were my thoughts when seeing the build on paper. But risk brings reward. This is a very good looking bike and the colour scheme is exciting.

Looks fairly normal, get closer..

Mmm purple

Attention to detail, the bars were the perfect match.

These pictures were taken before the brake res' caps and bores were changed for purple ones too ;-)

Hope built wheels are bomb proof!

All the purple is giving us ideas..

Custom Built MTB Tourer

Going to keep this one simple, another custom built beauty.

Lee Cooper has taken Kevin's drawings and made them reality once again and doesn't it just look great.

It's exciting to see the finished project and the paint choice on this one is stunning in the sunlight.

You all know by now that all you need to do is come in and see us for more information on custom builds and frame building from Lee.

Surly Pugsley

This tank of a bike is just great! The Pugsley has caused loads of 'second takes' in the shop this week. This is a demo bike and our enquiring customer was impressed just at the sight of the beast.

I have had a blast around the block on the Surly and it's surprisingly responsive with higher tyre pressures and the 4" tyres definitely turn heads. It has a much more aggressive tread on this model compared to my other fat bike experience - the Mukluk (as seen in the past posts in this blog).

Jason built the bike and told me its in the region of 38lbs, of which I think is a lie because it doesn't feel that heavy. Besides, this has enough braze on points to fit all the racks, guards and cages you could ever want. You could add some considerable weight and plod along quite happily.

Typical fat bikes features include huge BB, special cranks and 135mm front hub spacing.

I really enjoy these bikes and it seems like a growing market so expect to see more of these in the coming years as I think riders are getting excited for off road touring and 'adventure' rides.

For more information, to arrange viewing and even a test ride please visit us in store. As with most bikes, we can custom build from the frame up or full builds are available.

Van Nicholas goodness

As you will know, we have been selling Van Nicholas bikes for some time now. They have a keen (see what I did there..) eye for detail and their bikes are look rather splendid.

We have various models in stock at the moment; Amazon, Yukon and Ventus.

Even better they are great value for money and customisable. With all that to offer its important to come in store and see out resident Van Nic Guru, Kevin.

So whether its custom geometry or custom spec, we can get it right!

Lee Cooper Custom Frames

We have been getting frame built by Lee Cooper for many years and the quality is amazing.

We have just had one frame build and one restored by him so I just wanted to post up some photos to show what great work he does.

The orange one is a custom build and the grey one is a restoration - both stunning.

So you know that when you get a custom frame from us, the geometry will be correct and the frame will look stunning!

British bike manufacture is on the up!

There is defiantly a value attached to British built items and cycles are no exception. A recent BikeBiz article has highlighted the recent boom in British bicycle numbers.

Two examples that effect us at JAC the most are Brompton and Pashley bikes. We are getting deliveries from them pretty much every couple of weeks and the bikes are just beautiful.

Plus the other thing to remember is that the Brompton bikes are made to order. So if you are planning on ordering one, get in sooner rather than later...

We have a Brompton Demo bike in store plus some stock models if you are in a rush.

For more information call us on 01926 430211

Custom Kansi - Belt Drive

You may remember this from about a year ago, well its a LONG story but the bike is finally back and there have been some changes. This Kansi 1twenty of mine has been custom built using parts from the other belt drive Kansi I built before. Let me list the custom parts on here and some of which are pre-production :-)

Custom cut bars with Kansi bar ends and foam grips
Crazy Bob tyres (nightmare to get to work so if you have a Kansi, just don't bother...)
Black and Yellow SDG saddle.
Surly Chain Tug.
Gates Carbon Belt Drive (front ring, rear sprocket and carbon belt)
Rear wheel has been re-built onto a Shimano BMX hub.
Pre-Pro' Kansi Yellow Pedals and Yellow 'stay fold' - Thanks M.H!
and all the custom cut stickers in YELLOW! (Made in store!)

Some of the newest editions to the Kansi are:
Black bits, there are now black cranks, brake and lever - nice touch.
Magnets to ensure the bars stay close to the bike when folded. - again nice touch.

Well its taken a long time but the bike is finally here. I think I will be changing the tyres again for something narrower but we will see.

Let us know what you think :-)

Custom Yeti ASR 5 build

You may notice that these pictures were taken inside on this occasion... When the bike was built the weather outside was appalling so this time the photos were taken inside. Mixes things up a bit :-p

Tidy build overall.
