Christmas Window Display

Has everyone seen our Christmas window display for this year? It's looks great when it's dark outside so pop on by and come and see us.

We have some lovely little kids bikes in the window plus the 'Humbug' Bobbin. We also have some great gift ideas. If you are having trouble finding that little something, I hope we can help.

Look At This Beauty!

This special order from Van Nicholas is beautiful. It arrived as a 105 spec full build and we converted it to CX1 from Sram. Doesn't it look well :-)

We all wanted one. So it's a good thing it's now gone to its new home and we can stop being temped by it.

Amazon Cross bikes are available to order and can be custom specified. If you would like some more information on VN then please come in and see us. We always have a few examples in store and on display.

Lovely Rare Hope Mono Mini Brakes

We have had these brakes for a few years now, but we have discovered them and they are for sale!

It's the colours that stands out at first. But upon closer inspection the laser etching makes them really special. The rotors are matching pink with flower cut outs.

Check them out on our website. We only have the one set and they are very rare so don't let someone else get them!

Local Shop Closure

All at John Atkins Cycles were surprised to hear that Chris has closed down his two shops, ‘The Bike Shop Kenilworth’ and ‘The Bike Shop Whitnash’, especially since he had only just open in Kenilworth following his closure of the Coventry Cycle Centre in Far Gosford.

Would all his customers who have paid deposits remember that the correct course of action is:
1. If made by debit or credit card contact the card issuer immediately.
2. If by cash then contact the liquidator Gerald Irwin, Irwin & company on 0121 321 1700 also ring them about any repairs you have not collected.

If there is anyway we can help with sales or repairs then please drop in and see us.

These are great fun. Super simple design with interactive functions. Race against your friends in simulations and even benefit from 'drafting' techniques. Stick on their wheel and the amount of input required is reduced.

Maverick Parts Online Ordering

As these Maverick forks are still going strong on the front of many people rigs, they still need servicing.

We DO still service Maverick forks and spares are still available. Some of which need to be ordered and there can be a wait for these. Most of the main 'fragile' and service parts are available. Some of the original parts have been replaced with redesigned and stronger parts, we have most of these in stock.

If you are after some Maverick parts, please head over to www.maverickbike.co.uk to see some tech docs and you can find most of the info you need. Then check out www.johnatkinscycles.co.uk and search for the item or search for the Maverick part number. You can purchase nearly all the Maverick items from our website but if you can't see what you need, call or email us for more info.

If you would like to book your forks or rear shock in for a service, again please get in touch. These can be sent to us and we do post finished forks back, so you don't need to be local to have a service. All forks must be booked in before being sent to us so please contact us first for an estimated turn around.

Let's keep these lovely forks alive!

Hope and Mondraker - match made in heaven.

'This is going to be risky'

These were my thoughts when seeing the build on paper. But risk brings reward. This is a very good looking bike and the colour scheme is exciting.

Looks fairly normal, get closer..

Mmm purple

Attention to detail, the bars were the perfect match.

These pictures were taken before the brake res' caps and bores were changed for purple ones too ;-)

Hope built wheels are bomb proof!

All the purple is giving us ideas..

Scott Solace 10 Dura Ace

Mmmm,

This is a off the shelf bike and it's beautiful. Full Dura Ace, Solace frame that's stiff and responsive, yet compliant and comfortable.

Solace models start from £1999 and we have a demo bike in store now.

Scott Plasma Custom Build

This is a special build. The bike has been custom built and this bike will be able to take many different wheels and will have to adapt to the riders changing position as he gets used to the bike.

The Plasma is a fast looking if nothing else.

Please note the saddle position has been made by the rider and we did enjoy having a little joke with him about this, if it makes him go faster..

It even looks fast with Mavic Aksium wheels fitted. Some loose ends in the set up phase, that's some saddle to bar drop.. ;-)

Carbon wheels, tubs and a disc wheel ready for the first event in Lanzerote. We will keep you posted with the results :-)

Katie's Third Icebreaker

Icebreaker Saturday 29 March

Girls from all around the country gathered at Newport velodrome for the third and final Icebreaker of 2014.

I was here with Alice and Claire who were also racing in Solihull cc colours in the U16, we train and race together.

I have gained so much experience from these races, training is wonderful practice but actually racing is so good for learning. First up was the scratch race, points was next and fisnihsing with  - my favourite “The Devil”

Next to look forward to is the track league at Halesowen and The West Midlands Omnium. More news to follow about these race in May and June.

Genesis Line Up

Last week all these stars alighned to make this awesome line up!

CDF
Croix De Fer
Croix De Fer 953
Day One Disc
Day One Alfine Di2
Col Du Glandon
Equilibrium Ti
Madison

We actually ran out of room to fit them all in because we also had:

High Latitude Aline 11
Latitude Ti
Flyer

But we couldn't fit them all in..

Genesis bikes are pretty hot at the moment and we are told there are some more exciting bikes to come.

Brilliant Genesis Day-One Alfine Di2

This is a lovely bike.

This would make a super premium pub bike! Or a super sturdy commute bike for the more sensible. Rack mounts, guard clearance etc.

We are loving the new Di2 version of the 11 Alfine hub from Shimano. The best thing I reckon is the display unit. I can see some really cool applications for this in the near future, built into stems etc.

It has a reassuring, quick and quality change and it's all set up from the PC. (Remember we can offer software and firmware upgrade for all Di2 platforms in store).

Genesis are being quite adventurous with their specs this year and we have heard of some more exciting things to come.

I am sure the owner with enjoy many electronically shifted moments on this steed.

Tidy Genesis Track Bike

This is the 2014 version of Katie's track bike of which we have pictured before. But this one is a little different. This bike comes with a silver finishing kit and wheels as standard.

Tim knows the devil is in the details so we have swapped all the silver for black, added white bar tape, white headset, Miche carrier and sprockets and the rather sexy Miche chainset to match. The saddle will be swapped I am told and we kept the wheel reflectors on because we all know they make you go faster!

Nothing better than that 'new bike' feeling.

Signed Up: Bliss

Bliss is new to the market and as far as armour goes, it's brilliant. The Bliss range contains two type of padding. There's a foam pad type and active gel. It's washable and resilient. The active gel is where it's at! Super comfortable and moldable, the pads absorb impact and unlike other brands on the market they don't degrade.

Keeny decided he was going to try on a small. It didn't fit.

This suit with built in back protector was the perfect opportunity to have some fun.. Attacking Keeny with a handle bar was annoyingly softened by the pad protecting his back. I hit him pretty hard aswell and he was hurt.

They have a pretty good range and we will be stocking them as soon as they arrive in early April.

They are ideal for XC, trail and mainly Enduro riders. Lightweight and unrestrictive, the quality is enhanced by the well designed fabrics and tough construction.

They even have a bag that's got loads of internal pockets, quality zips, bladder compatible and of couse contains a back protector built in. Removable when not required, this bag is everything you could want from a riding bag.

Check out www.johnatkinscycles.co.uk in April for info.
