Electric Bike Anyone?

We have a range of electric bikes in store and the idea is getting more people interested as the technology progresses. The bike are becoming smarter and the batteries are lasting longer making electric bikes an interesting proposition.

The top of the range Scott has it all! Its not the cheapest in the market but you can rest easy knowing that the tech behind the bike is sound and the quality is spot on. There are loads of nice features built into the design that are also transferred to the non-electric bikes too.

You will notice the integrated rear mudguard and rack, the frame mounted prop stand located at the rear of the chain stay and the purpose built frame to house the Bosch battery and motor system. Its a clever system that can be set in different modes depending on the particular use. It gives you all the information you need from the head unit from predicted range to current speed. The head unit is also back-lit when the lights are turned on. These are wired to the bike and are very powerful.

The overall package has been well thought out to provide the best riding experience. The motor is mounted on the frame and at the cranks, this give the bike a lower centre of gravity and unlike most other electric bikes, reduces rolling weight. When the motor is in the wheel it makes the bike harder to accelerate and brake and can also effect the handling of the bike.

The bikes are in store now and available to try. We keep them charged so just pop in to have a look.

Looking to get on a electric bike?

Well we have them in store. We stock the electric series from both Scott and Trek bikes with a few other brands on the horizon. We carefully pick our electric brands as we know some cheaper bikes can be hard to get spares for and the quality can be poor. Make sure so are getting the best by seeing us in store! The guys can explain the differences between the brands and different systems. As with anything, there are different brands and systems and one may suit your needs better than others.

Scott Venture (Bosch System)

Pop in store and check out the range we have and talk to the staff to get the best bike for the job. Test rides are also available upon request.

Scott E-Bike, Orange anyone?

We have the newest E-bike on the block from Scott.

This bike is in store now and is a joy to ride. We can arrange demo rides of the Scott system (provided by Bosch Systems) so get in touch 01926 430211

This bike comes how you see it, with the guards, rack and lights included. This bike will do up to 90 miles on a single charge and there are some nifty features that set this above the rest. Its light, well in Electric bike terms it is. Weighing in at around 20kg its among the lightest of the bunch with full size wheels. The assistance comes from the bottom bracket area so the majority of the weight low, this gives the bike a responsive and stable feel. The great thing about this range is that they are proper bikes with the ability to cope with the abuse all weather, everyday riding brings. This Bosch unit also allows different levels of assistance. There are various modes included touring, eco and SPEED (we like speed mode). These allow you to chose the mode that suits you and each mode is also adjustable. The funky little computer even tells you speed and range remaining. A clever feature in my opinion.

So don't delay. Get down to JAC or call 01926 430211

Do you have a bit of spare cash?

Well how about £30,500? If so then you can afford one of these...

This 'Transformer' looking cycles is equipped with an electric assist and is custom made from exotic materials. It is also sporting a Rohloff hub of which we are rather familiar. :-)

Cant help but think that £30k is still a tad high though...

Shimano Ultegra Di2 Electric Bike

We have just taken delivery of the Shimano Ultegra Di2 Electric Groupset bike. This is a great way to try before you buy. The bike is available via the store and can be borrowed to test this new system.

We are finding that the Ultegra system is more popular as it is much cheaper than the Dura-Ace version but as we know Dura-Ace has some advanced features about just a little weight saving.

If you want to come and try the Di2 bike, come into John Atkins Cycles or email info@johnatkinscycles.co.uk for more information.
